Vectors are usually stored in a format that requires a login and a purchase to access the "Download" button. Unlike a screen capture of a photo, you cannot simply "save" a vector file from a browser preview. Consequently, most "free vector downloaders" are actually just downloading the low-resolution raster preview (a flat JPG) of the vector file. You might get the image, but you lose the scalability and editability that makes a vector valuable.

Even if a site provides a file, it is rarely a true vector. Often, the downloader simply takes the preview raster image and converts it to a "fake EPS" (a raster image inside an EPS container). When you open it in Adobe Illustrator, you cannot edit the paths, and it looks blurry when scaled. Your project is ruined.
