Rose Bruno Mars - Apt. -lyrics- Direct
The most striking aspect of "APT." is its lyrical concept. The title refers to the Korean drinking game "Apateu" (Apartment). The lyrics revolve around the rhythmic chanting and stacking of hands associated with the game.
Lyrical Highlights:
Lyrically, the song is a masterclass in code-switching. ROSÉ slides between English and Korean not for exoticism, but for authenticity. The Korean interjections (“Geoul soge nae eolgul” – “My face in the mirror”) feel natural, while Bruno stays in his English R&B lane. The bridge, where they both chant the Korean game rules, creates a moment of genuine cross-cultural unity. You don’t need to speak Korean to understand the command: Drink, spin, fall in love, make a mistake.
For a song about a drinking game, the lyrics are surprisingly clever in their simplicity. They manage to explain the game without making it feel like a tutorial. The repetitive nature of the lyrics ("Hey, so now you know the game" ) encourages the listener to sing along immediately, regardless of whether they speak Korean or English. It is a prime example of "less is more" in pop songwriting.
Imagine the soft strum of a guitar, a gentle but driving beat, and a chorus that builds into a raw, emotional peak. ROSÉ takes the first verse with breathy longing, Bruno answers with his signature falsetto in the pre-chorus, and together they harmonize on the hook:
“This apartment’s too small for the both of us / But baby, I don’t mind / Leavin’ all the windows open / Let the night bleed into the light.”
[Intro: ROSÉ]Koltae neoege nae mam jeonhal su itge(So that I can tell you my heart)Chama mot chamgesseum, apateu, apateu(I can’t hold it anymore, apartment, apartment)
[Verse 1: ROSÉ]I be startin' somethin', and I done did the impossibleMet you at the party, dancin' with your friends in the poolNow you're callin' me, "Baby," I don't know what we gotBut you're kissin' me in your apartment, turnin' off the lights
[Pre-Chorus: ROSÉ & Bruno Mars]Don't you want me like I want you, baby?Don't you need me like I need you now?We could be a team, runnin' through the cityYeah, I’m talkin' late nights, long drives, tell me, are you ready?
[Chorus: ROSÉ & Bruno Mars]Apateu, apateuApateu, apateuApateu, apateuUh, uh-huh, uh-huh
[Post-Chorus: Bruno Mars]Hold up, hold up, let me catch my breathYou got me spinnin' like a record, left my chest a messShe said, "Oppa, slow down, we ain't got a place to go"But we got the apartment, and the stereo
[Verse 2: Bruno Mars]I ain't never met nobody like you in the city lightsYou got the ceiling mirror, reflection lookin' way too rightWe skip the small talk, we head straight to the backYou pour the soju, I pour the JackThe most striking aspect of "APT
[Bridge: ROSÉ & Bruno Mars]It's a game we play, stackin' hands, makin' plansPull away too fast, you losin', gotta take a standOne shot, two shots, three shots, fourKnockin' on the ceiling, beggin' for some more
[Chorus – Outro: Both]Apateu, apateu(The sun is comin' up, but we don't care)Apateu, apateu(Just me and you in the apartment here)Apateu, apateu...
(Whispered): Good night.
Let’s dissect the key lyrical moments that make this song go viral.
“Turn the lights down low / You know I’m always down for the aftershow / Got a bottle that’s empty / But my heart is full of what you’re giving me.”
Analysis: Bruno does what he does best: classic seduction. The “aftershow” implies an intimate, secret meeting post-party. The empty bottle is a red herring—the song isn't about getting drunk; it's about the intoxication of vibe. He immediately establishes that this isn't a club banger; it’s a bedroom/living room floor banger. “This apartment’s too small for the both of
“APT.” is more than just a song; it is a cultural artifact. ROSÉ took a memory of a Korean drinking game, pitched it to Bruno Mars, and created a global phenomenon.
The lyrics capture the exhilarating anxiety of a new fling: the spinning room, the clinking glasses, the stacked hands, and the whispered "Good night" as the sun comes up.

How are the words validated?
The game uses a dictionary that follows the same language rules as the NASPA Word List 2020 Edition (NWL2020). Those rules are made by NASPA, the North American Scrabble Players Association. You can find an overview of the accepted two-letter words here.
Can I challenge a word placed by the computer?
No, words placed by the computer cannot be challenged. The computer only places words that are in the word list we use, you can be sure they are valid.
How are the letters dealt?
The dealing of letters is completely at random, so it means that it can happen that you have (almost) only vowels, or don’t receive high value letters. If you are not happy with the letters you receive, blame probability calculation! You can always swap your letters if you cannot find a good word to play.
Can I see the letters on the rack of the computer?
No, this is not possible. In a real-life game of Scrabble, you also cannot see the letters of your opponent. The official rules also state that you cannot see your opponent’s rack.
