Log into the IMM web interface:
From CLI (SSH or local serial):

Even with a valid key, things can go wrong. Here are the most frequent issues and their solutions.
Lenovo provides the Advanced Settings Utility (ASU) for Windows/Linux which can inject the key directly into the IMM via the host OS. This is useful when network access to the IMM is unavailable. Ibm Imm Activation Key

Product Type: Software-based license key (Feature on Demand – FoD) Purpose: Unlocks advanced remote management capabilities on IBM System x, BladeCenter, and Flex System servers equipped with a standard (base) IMM.

Given the cost of activation keys, some administrators attempt to use a key from one server on another. This will not work.
If you have multiple identical servers, you must purchase an activation key for each server. Volume discounts may be available through Lenovo’s enterprise licensing program. Or via IPMI: ipmitool raw 0x32 0x88
