Directed by Priyadarshan (a remake of his own Malayalam film Mithunam and later the Hindi classic Hera Pheri), Garam Masala follows the story of Mac (Akshay Kumar) and Sam (John Abraham), two freelance photographers who work for the eccentric and short-tempered ship-owner Mambo (Paresh Rawal).
Mac is a chronic womanizer who juggles three air hostesses simultaneously, using his friend Sam's apartment as a hideout. When Sam returns from the United States, the situation explodes into a series of ridiculous lies, fast costume changes, and classic door-slamming farce.
The relationship between a film like Garam (2005) and a site like Filmyzilla is paradoxically symbiotic, despite being entirely illicit.
Before we discuss the illegal distribution, we must understand the product. Directed by Madhur Bhandarkar’s protégé, Deepak Shivdasani, Garam (translated as "Hot") was an attempt to cash in on the erotic thriller genre that briefly flickered in mid-2000s Bollywood.
Filmyzilla is a notorious online piracy website known for leaking Bollywood, Hollywood, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, and other regional movies. The site has become infamous for providing free downloads of copyrighted content in various resolutions (360p, 480p, 720p, and 1080p).
