Black bars happen because Insurgence uses 4:3 (640x480). To fill 16:9 screen:

  • Or use Borderless Gaming (fixes automatically).

    • If F5 gives you a tiny image or black bars → follow the steps below.

    You can edit the game’s config file:

  • If you find Fullscreen=0, change to Fullscreen=1.

  • Add or change:

    FullscreenScaling=1
SmoothScaling=0
FullscreenWidth=1920
FullscreenHeight=1080

    (Adjust to your monitor’s resolution.)

    • But – the game’s internal resolution is 512×384 or 640×480. Without external scaling, it will still stretch.
